Set of Nikon Lenses

As of February '08 the list of Nikon lenses is pretty impressive, making me wish for this and that, especially in the presence of Nikon D3 on the market. The full-frame sensor made me miss my 18-35mm Nikkor, the high ISO settings reminded me of the wishful thinking of taking pictures without the flash in available light... or barely any light. So, one combination of such desires is represented in Nikkor 28mm f/1.4D AF . Had I known that this lens would not be made for a long time, I probably would have invested in one. Back in 2002 it was below $1000, now it ranges between $2800-$3000 used. Just imagine the flexibility of this aperture in a low light. When I thought that I can use my lost Rocoh GR-1 loaded with 400ISO print film down to 1/8 sec, the same light would allow me to shoot at about 1/250 sec with f1.4 aperture and the D3 set for ISO 3200. Imagine getting a p/s camera with that kind of ISO, even at f2.8 you would be getting some sneaky, but reasonably sharp pictures. If Leica M8 is indeed going to be able to upgrade its sensors (and some other parts), perhaps the technology will justify in putting out $5k for one of those. Until then, I will be making my choices for a lens collection, a list of which I like to browse here.
